But keep in mind this is a rather young software developed by a small company - for that, it's really impressive, and it's constantly improving. Having the text tool available in the editor timeline as well would indeed be nice. Sure, HitFilm has room for improvement, especially on the editing side of things. You can delete it, but you don't have to - you might add something with sound to that composite shot later. ![]() A video with an empty audio track, in this case. You're creating the text inside a composite shot, and a composite shot from the outside looks just like an ordinary video. The "text having sound" is just an artifact of that structure. Any time you want to create something new, from scratch or by putting other stuff on top of each other, you need to create a composite shot (which by the way can be done in several ways, some more and some less obscure), and this holds true for creating text as well. The editor timeline is the place where you stitch together existing media into the order that you want, with some limited effects options. To efficiently work with Hitfilm you need to understand the separation between the editor timeline and composite shots.
